The project is designed at the spot of the previous universal shopping centre “Merkurijus” https://lt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merkurijus_(prekybos_centras) and the undeveloped territory in the depth of the quarter. Neighbouring the plot are the Vytautas Magnus University and the central building of KTU.
Goal of the project: development of the project of Joint Kaunas Universities International Scientific Innovation Centre with Science Museum near Laisves Ave. and S. The aim is to develop a modern scientific research and study centre, by creating informal outdoor and indoor spaces in the present infrastructure of the quarter, by demolishing inferior buildings and building new ones.
This project would seek to strengthen Kaunas community of scientists and students, enhance the quality of studies and the international competitiveness by concentrating the science and study potential, developing conditions for interdisciplinarity of studies. At the end of 2013 rectors of five universities operating in Kaunas signed a protocol of intention to merge and to restore the University of Lithuania before 2022, which was established in 1922. Various clusters of universities are planned for optimisation of programmes and activities. This is how universities expect to strengthen their forces for global promotion of Lithuania as a country of science, simultaneously cooperating and attracting students from abroad. Authors of the project are free to determine the size, the programme and the operating scenario of the object.
Physical demand program for this task is free to choose by the author’s decision – you can decide on yourself what size, program and scenario building it should be. But have in mind the case study situation. Consider it fair to look for standards from relevant literature or similar objects
